How to Publish Using Expression Web 3 and FrontPage Server Extensions

Publishing With FPSEs

In order to publish using FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSEs), you must first have web hosting that supports or provides FPSEs.  There happen to be several web hosting providers that still support them.

Hostmonster, HostGator, and Blue Host are just 3 examples.

If you have the appropriate web hosting, then follow these steps:

1.  Install FPSEs from within your web hosting control panel.
Note:  You need to install FPSEs for your primary domain, or any individual subdomains that you create.  However, it is best that you do not publish with FTP if you are going to use FPSEs.  Use one or the other.  Yet, you can always switch back to an FTP, but first back up your site and uninstall FPSEs.
2Make note of your web hosting account username and password as you will need this info next.

Your username and password will be needed when we set up our Publishing settings within Expression Web 3.

3.  Publishing Settings:  Click Site -->  Publishing Settings

Doing so will open the following dialog box:

4.  Click on "Add..."

Clicking on "Add..." will open the following dialog window:

1.  For Connection Type, Select FrontPage Extensions in the dropdown menu.

2.  For Location, type http:// and your domain name.  (EX:  http://domain-name.com)

3.  Enter your username and password. 

4.  Click Add.
