folder1. Set up an Empty Web Site

A Web Site Defined

A Web Site is really just a folder

We will create this folder and save it to our computers hard drive using Expression Web 3.  This folder will then hold all of our web pages, images, and any other assets used to create our web pages.

(Note:  use Expression Web 3 to open and close this folder (web site).  Just click Site and choose Open Site or Close.)

Disk-based versus Live

Since we are saving the folder (web site) to our hard drive, we are in essence creating a disk-based web site.  A Live web site is one in which we create an FTP connection directly to our remote server and create and update a live web site.

A Disk-based Web Site is recommended because this way we can run all kinds of reports about our web pages, hyperlinks, and so on.  With a Live web site, we cannot run those reports.
